Roseanna Southall
I have worked in cancer care since 2014 and for the last seven years have been a counsellor at FORCE Cancer Charity, supporting people and their families through the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.
Through both my work and personal experience of supporting family members with cancer, I understand how isolating and overwhelming the cancer journey can be, for both patients and their loved ones. This has shown me the importance of connecting with others, shared experiences, and making space to support our wellbeing and resource ourselves through difficult times.
For me, the sea has always been a place of learning, introspection and quiet (or sometimes very loud) joy. Whether I am long distance swimming, taking a dip and letting the waves wash over me, floating in calmer waters, or sitting by the shore to reflect and let the sounds of crashing waves fill my head, being in and around the water helps me find a sense of calm, and certainty.
I am absolutely certain of the positive impact that cold water, being outdoors, and finding community can have on the wellbeing of both our minds and bodies. I am excited to be sharing the experience with others, as part of the Into the Blue team!
